Mac Menu Bar System Monitor

Keep the key numbers and recent history in view while you work. Open Details or Overview only when you need a closer look.

What belongs in your menu bar?

Start with the metrics you check most: memory usage, CPU activity, network traffic or temperature. A visible chart shows recent changes; a readable value tells you what is happening now. iStateBar combines them in modular blocks rather than requiring you to keep a separate dashboard open.

Set up a useful first view

  1. Download iStateBar and move it into Applications. Open the app to start your automatic 7-day full trial.
  2. Click the bar and enable the modules you want. Macs without physical fans do not show the Fan module.
  3. Choose charts, compact readouts or rings where available. Drag module headings to arrange their order, or use Sort. Switching modules on or off keeps that order.
  4. Set module colors, chart length and block spacing. Keep enough space for other macOS menu items.

Menu bar, Details or Overview?

The bar is for a glance. Details keeps a compact panel with one module expanded. Overview shows several modules and their settings together. Both open from the menu bar, and you can switch between them without opening a separate app window.

Keep monitoring visible during work

Drag the bar onto your desktop when the menu bar is crowded. Adjust opacity at the bottom of the panel, and choose always-on-top behavior in Floating settings. Auto-hide in fullscreen can keep a movie or presentation clear. Readings depend on your Mac and macOS; the website edition includes hardware monitoring without another plugin.
